Rana Daggubati says his ‘Rana Naidu’ character looked decent after ‘Animal’ release

Rana Daggubati talks about Rajinikanth 'Vettaiyan' and 'Kalki 2898 AD'.

Rana Daggubati, in a recent podcast, said that his character web series ‘Rana Naidu’ looked ‘decent’ when ‘Animal’ released.

In a podcast called ‘Rawtalks’, Rana Daggubati recollected how the audience did not like ‘Rana Naidu’ when it came out. “Everyone was freaking the hell out. Then ‘Animal’ released. Then I was like, ‘Hey, now I look like a decent guy’. What’s wrong with you?”

Earlier, during a roundtable, Rana Daggubati had earlier said that he became ‘less popular’ after the release of ‘Rana Naidu’. Opening up about why he had chosen to be a part of the web series, he had said, “I was always interested in topics that are taboo to society that you can tell in a very mainstream form. Because at some point, we try to tell it in cinema and it becomes very arthouse, it becomes a sub-genre in some ways. But this had child abuse in a gangster drama set inside of a family. To me, that was very interesting. It’s family drama that everyone gets. It has topics that you don’t want to talk about or spoken very boldly and harshly so that was the first reason I got onto it.”

Rana Daggubati is also a part of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ but not as a part of the cast. He also spoke about it in the podcast and said, “The next big moment is ‘Kalki’. Nag Ashwin is a very dear friend. Not just India and the Indian diaspora but everyone in the world will connect to Kalki. For a long time, I have been waiting for an Avengers moment from our side. That’s what has excited me to be part of it.”

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ releases on June 27. It features Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan.
