Zayed Khan Explains Why He Liked Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal: At The Risk Of Not Trying To Be Woke… – EXCLUSIVE
Ranbir Kapoor starrer and Sandeep Reddy Vanga directed Animal is still making headlines, months after its release. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Zayed Khan has now spoken about why he likes the movie. He also revealed that his father Sanjay Khan enjoyed the movie too.
Talking about his father and actor Sanjay Khan’s recent favourite film, Zayed says, “Recently, he watched Animal. He was all praise for Ranbir and Bobby.”
Then, he also adds that he liked the movie too, despite the internet’s divided reaction. “Even I thought…at the risk of not trying to be woke in any way, I really liked the film. It was a banger of a film. It was the past film that really excited me to go and watch the film in the theatre…I’ll be honest. I don’t know about all the politically correct things.”, Zayed adds candidly.
Zayed feels that good cinema always evokes strong reaction, whatever that may be. He continues, “I feel that if cinema is able to get a reaction from you that way, it has really done its job. It evokes those kinds of feelings, and generates a discussion….it is definitely something that has hit home in a certain way.
Talking about people trying to play it safe and making cinema that does not evoke discussions, Zayed says, “A lot of people are trying to make very rudderless kind of cinema that shouldn’t hurt anybody’s feelings… In fact, when you write things, initially it does hurt a lot of people. How you end it, how you tell your story to make all the ends meet, and to say why it happened that way…there was a reason for this. Then, there’s actually something to look forward to.”
