SK chairman involved in animal cruelty goes into hiding


The chairman of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) spotted in the viral video on the brutal killing of a dog in Pilar, Capiz cannot be located, police confirmed.

The SK chairman of Barangay Blasco seen in the video who struck the dog several times with a bamboo pole is nowhere to be found in the said barangay.

According tot he Philippine National Police in Pilar town, Province of Capiz, it is possible that the man could be hiding after the video went viral and drew the attention of an animal welfare group based in Manila.

The animal welfare group is keen on filing a complaint against four persons involved in animal cruelty.

The police were still able to talk to the suspect prior to reports he could not be reached.

Police said that the SK chairman expressed remorse for the act. On behalf of the three others involved, he also mentioned of their “deep regret” for killing the dog.

The animal welfare group from Manila is scheduled to arrive on May 23, 2024 to lodge a complaint against the suspects.

“Wala naman ang SK chairman doon, hindi naman siya ma-locate. Baka nagtago sa ginawa niya. Amenable naman sila sa ginawa nila, inamin nila. Nagsisisi talaga sila,” Police Major Alfredo de Leon, chief of Pilar Municipal Police Station, said. 

Others involved in the killing of the dog are its pet owner and the person taking the video who was heard in the background apparently enjoying the act.

To recall, it was the owner who sought help from residents to have his dog killed after it attacked allegedly his pet chickens.

Residents who have children also said they are scared of the ravenous dog who already started eating live chickens.
