A new animal welfare organisation has launched in Liverpool and you can get involved

A team of professionals have launched a new non-profit animal welfare organisation in the city with a clear vision to ensure that all animals are treated with respect, empathy and compassion.

Tails Animal Welfare is the brainchild of friends and co-founders, school teachers Joanne Hughes and Julie Kiziltan, recruitment consultant Lesley Finnih and HR business development manager Lyndsey Maloney.

The team have over 40 years’ experience supporting animal rescue charities, caring for animals and are passionate about supporting the rescue and rehoming of vulnerable animals. The organisation was set up earlier this year in response to the on-going animal welfare crisis across the country which has magnified since the Covid-19 pandemic and cost of living crisis.

Since its launch, the charity has re-homed 70 cats, rescued a rabbit, numerous fish and rehabilitated birds.

The organisation has developed a network of foster homes for cats and kittens, allowing them to assess the animal’s health and well-being as well as their temperaments in order to help them find the most compatible forever homes.

Co-Founder Joanne Hughes said:

“Our mission is to improve the welfare and well-being of animals. We rescue, rehabilitate and re-home animals in need and in doing so inspire a community of kindness towards animals through support and education”.

Tails is a community driven charity with a dedicated team of volunteers whose collective vision is to inspire a kinder community to all animals.
