If you need help at the Australia Zoo, find someone dressed in Steve Irwin’s famous khaki. And, yes, that includes the littlest member of the team, Bindi Irwin’s daughter Grace Warrior! The 3-year-old knows just as much about animals as anyone else at the zoo and loves sharing her animal facts with others! SheKnows Health Editor Maggie Ryan caught up with Bindi and her mom Terri Irwin on the red carpet at the 12th Annual Endometriosis Foundation of America’s Blossom Ball, where Bindi was being honored with the Blossom Award, and she gave us an update about her adventurous daughter.
For starters, Grace is already living up to her name. “She is 100 percent a Wildlife Warrior. I mean, I think it’s genetic at this point,” Bindi tells SheKnows with a laugh.
And although Bindi and her husband Chandler Powell encourage Grace “to do whatever she wants in life,” the toddler seem set on wildlife. “Her thing is just animals,” Bindi tells us. “She likes to become an expert on animals.”
“So her new thing is facts. So, she’ll say something like, ‘Koalas eat eucalyptus. That’s a fact,’” Bindi says while impersonating her daughter, finger motion and all to really drive the point home. “And it’s so cute, ‘cause it’s like, you know what? You can’t teach that. That is just who she is.” Yup, loving animals is definitely in her blood!
Bindi adds, “She is definitely the ruler of our universe. She is so wonderful because she’s such a kind and beautiful soul, while also having so much strength within her. She runs the zoo.” (Watch the full video interview with Bindi and Terri HERE.)
Last month, Bindi shared a sweet video of her daughter making a mini documentary. “Grace is here to tell you about her friend, ” the Australia Zoo CEO captioned the video. In it, Grace stands next to a tortoise and explains that she is eating a flower on the ground.
“She’s crunching!” Grace explains. She then demonstrates how a tortoise eats by opening and closing her mouth and making deliberate smacking sounds. “This is a tortoise eating a flower,” she says. We can’t get over how cute she is!
Later, Grace spits out some of her famous facts. “Tortoises go in land. Turtles go in water,” she says, adding, “Tortoises’ favorite snack is leaves.”
She’s our favorite animal expert!
