Advocates urge Olympic chefs to drop foie gras at the 2024 Games

Over a month ago, Animal Equality’s global team launched a campaign to remove foie gras from the 2024 Olympic hospitality menu.

Foie gras production involves force-feeding ducks and geese multiple times daily until their livers swell up to ten times their natural size. Many animals bleed, pant, shake, and vomit during this process.

Advocates argue that foie gras contradicts the Olympic spirit of “responsibility” and “sustainability.” Despite over 60% of the menu being plant-based or meatless, organizers have still allowed a dish so cruel that its production is illegal in over a dozen countries.

In a matter of weeks, Animal Equality’s supporters have:

  • Gathered over 70,000 global petition signatures urging the Committee to drop foie gras from the hospitality menus.
  • Sent two open letters, the latest signed by experts, celebrities, and athletes.
  • Rallied support on social media, showing organizers how strongly people oppose foie gras.

Animal Equality is now reaching out to chefs involved in the hospitality packages, asking them to use their influence to shape a kinder menu.

Below are the names and social media accounts of these chefs. Please comment on their posts, voicing your concerns about foie gras.

PROTECT DUCKS

Even before hatching from their eggs, ducklings communicate with their close‑knit families.

Protect these families by eating plant‑based and ditching animal products.
