Vidya Balan is all praise for the ‘unapologetic approach’ of the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer movie ‘Animal’. When discussing the film’s triumph, Vidya remarked that the creators of Animal displayed confidence and didn’t hesitate or doubt their creation, which contributed to its enchanting impact on the silver screen.

In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Vidya Balan said, “They were not apologetic, or second-guessing or what the audiences want. When they were telling the story, they said it unabashedly with an abundance and look at the way it worked. People have just connected to it.”
She went on to state, “I really think its the guise of the time is just telling a story, being unapologetic, that’s what it is. Conviction is the name of the game here. We are told content is king. But you can have great content told unconvincingly. ‘Animal’ is a great example of that.”

‘Animal’ premiered on December 1, 2023, in both standard and IMAX versions. Critics had mixed opinions, praising the performances and technical aspects but criticizing the film’s length, violence, and screenplay. Some celebrities also condemned its misogynistic content. Nevertheless, ‘Animal’ shattered numerous box office records for a Hindi film, both domestically and internationally. With a worldwide gross of ₹917.82 crore (US$110 million), it became the third highest-grossing Indian film of 2023, the fifth highest-grossing Hindi film, the eighth highest-grossing Indian film overall, the top-grossing A-rated Indian film, and Ranbir Kapoor’s most successful film to date.
