New Delhi: Delhi BJP on Saturday alleged that the responsibility of a stray animal killing a man in Khanpur ward of the city lies on the negligence of the AAP-led Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and mayor Shelly Oberoi because there was no action despite the issue being raised by BJP councillors before the incident. There was no response from the mayor’s office to the allegation.“The incident of a young man being killed by a stray cow in Khanpur ward is a result of the negligence and failure of the AAP-led MCD and mayor Shelly Oberoi to curb the menace of stray animals on Delhi roads,” said Raja Iqbal Singh, leader of opposition in the MCD.He further alleged that Delhi govt operated cow shelters within the city, and before the municipal elections, Arvind Kejriwal had promised to relocate stray cows and bulls to these shelters, but no action had been taken.Meanwhile, MCD officials said the veterinary department caught 102 stray cattle on Saturday with the help of police. Four illegal dairies were also sealed in Khanpur and Sangam Vihar.BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor accused AAP leaders of hypocrisy, stating that when the BJP was in municipal service, “Durgesh Pathak used to hold press conferences on trivial matters, but today, when a young man was ruthlessly killed by a stray cow, Durgesh Pathak remain silent.”He reminded CM Kejriwal and the mayor of the 10 guarantees issued by AAP before the municipal elections, which included the promise to free Delhi of stray animals.
