Pune : A pedestrian crossing the road died after an animal ambulance hit him. The incident took place at around 7.45 pm on Saturday in the Forest Park area in Lohegaon. It was revealed, during investigation, that the ambulance driver was drunk.
The victim has been identified as Surendrasingh Shailendrasingh Kumpavat (48), a resident of Kharadi. Sanjay Channappa Mulloli (26), a resident of Wade Bolhai, Wagholi. The victim’s brother Mahendrasingh lodged a complaint at the Vimantal Police Station.
Surendrasingh was walking in the Forest Park area on Saturday. The speedy ambulance hit Surendrasingh, in which he was seriously injured and died.
PI (Crime Branch) Sarjerao Kumbhar immediately rushed to the spot after learning about the accident. Accused Mulloli was detained. It was revealed that he was drunk. He was arrested at midnight. PSI Bhosale is investigating.
