Memphis Animal Services Director Ty Coleman on leave following concerns regarding shelter conditions

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Representatives with the City of Memphis have confirmed that Ty Coleman, the sitting director of Memphis Animal Services (MAS), is on leave effective immediately.

In recent weeks, the shelter has been under public scrutiny after one of the dogs being housed by MAS died from what they claimed to be a heat-related illness.

Coleman became interim director on September 5 of last year after the former director stepped down.

Memphis Animal Services has yet to release a statement on Coleman’s leave or the pending investigation.
