Nothing is better than relaxing on the couch with your dog or cat and reading a book by one of your favourite authors. Except maybe listening to your favourite author talk about that book…
Well you and your dog or cat can now do that with Bark! Fest, the book festival for animal lovers. 23 authors of books about animals, from much-loved classics to exciting new titles, will be in conversation about their books in a series of online events in September 2024.
The events are aimed squarely at people who love their pets, with both dogs and cats being feted. The authors’ books cover a range of topics, from dog training and cat behaviour, to enrichment and body language, to how pets influence our lives and the pain of losing them. There’s even a session with authors of crime and mystery books where a dog is central to the story.
I came up with the idea for Bark! Fest while thinking about the launch of my third book, Bark! The Science of Helping Your Anxious, Fearful, or Reactive Dog. I thought it would be fun to do some events with other authors, and because I run the Animal Book Club I know that people who like Companion Animal Psychology love reading and discussing all kinds of books about animals. So the idea for one event grew into a whole festival!
I am so excited for this series of events that will celebrate 23 authors and their books. I cannot wait to chat with the other authors about their books. Between them these books are beautiful, funny, sad, stunning, thoughtful, witty, and all very much loved by readers. They tell incredible stories and share important information about dogs, cats, and other animals.
There will be time for audience questions at each event so you will have the chance to put questions to your favourite authors of books about animals.
This one-of-a-kind event will inspire, educate, and entertain people who love their dog or cat.
