Ranbir Kapoor’s character Ranvijay in ‘Animal’ is one of the most controversial characters in Hindi films in recent times. A section of the audience thought that he’s also quite misogynistic and didn’t approve of his ways. This is another memorable character of Ranbir, apart from a very unique character like Jordan which he plays in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Rockstar’. Some people have also compared the two characters. Imtiaz Ali shed some light on these comparisons and gave the most honest answer.
Imtiaz revealed that he has not yet watched ‘Animal’, however, he said during a chat with Indian Express, “I have still not watched Animal, unfortunately. However, this I have heard a few times. I cannot give you an accurate answer about it. In the character of Janardan Jakhad in Rockstar, there is crassness. He is not an intelligent guy at all. He is not cerebral. He is not decent and he is not well-raised or well-mannered. So, if that is what goes on in Animal then there is something to compare about.”
The director said that Jordan in real life would have been a problematic character and he wouldn’t invite him for a party. He laughed, “Are you going to call Jordan? You have to be careful. You need to keep in check if there is enough security. You will have to think if he is going to self-obsess.” However, he would call all the female characters of his films to a party. The ‘Jab We Met’ director added, “All the girls should be there. There should be Geet, Veera, Tara, these are all fun ladies. If you run short on booze, you can ask them to take it easy, they are drunk on life anyway. But, the men you got to be careful.”
Imtiaz Ali’s last release was ‘Chamkila’ starring Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh.
