WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — An East Greenwich man accused of leaving his dogs outside during frigid temperatures is expected in court on Monday.
Rhode Island State Police say neighbors alerted authorities of suspected animal abuse at Eugene McQuade’s Downing Street home in 2018.
Investigators said 11 dogs were recovered from a few properties owned by McQuade. One was found abandoned in a truck.

They said the dogs were not only left in the cold, but were met with unsanitary living conditions inside his properties.
McQuade was charged with several offenses including 11 counts of unnecessary cruelty to animals, 11 counts of mistreatment of animals, and 1 count of abandonment of animals.
The dogs were taken into the care of the state Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
