It’s just over four years since my book, Wag: The Science of Making Your Dog Happy, was born into the world. Those were hard times of the pandemic that we’d rather forget.

But over the years since, I’m proud of how this book has done, and how many people have learned more about how to care for their dog from Wag

As I wrote in the book,

“I think we all want to make our dogs happy, even if along the way we show it in different ways and sometimes do the wrong thing. We love to see a happy look on our dog’s face, and let’s face it, the bounding, bouncing joy of a dog is enough to make us happy too. As guardians, we are responsible for everything in our dog’s life, and it’s an understatement to say we are important from our dog’s perspective. So this book is not just about your dog–it’s about you and your dog, the human-canine partnership, and what canine happiness means.”

Wag takes you through your dog’s life, from getting a puppy or adult dog to the senior years and end-of-life. There are tips to apply the science at home at the end of every chapter, and a checklist for a happy dog at the end of the book. People tell me they find the book easy to read, that they enjoy the personal anecdotes about my own dogs–and that it’s helped them make a difference to their dog’s life.

To celebrate the British publication of Wag, I’m re-sharing some of the interviews I did when it was first published. You’ll find lots of tips from the book in these interviews, as well as some fun conversations about what makes dogs happy and how I got into dogs in the first place.

You can learn more about happy dogs in these interviews:
