Zoomie was taken to his new home on his 699th day at the shelter.

LEAGUE CITY, Texas — A dog who lived at an animal shelter in League City for almost two years has found his “furever” home.

Zoomie was League City Animal Care’s longest-stay dog, according to a post shared on Facebook.

In a video, Richard Barido said he originally saw a post spotlighting Zoomie back in October 2023. He said Zoomie reminded him of his dog Iggy, who recently died.

From there, Richard and Cathy Barido began fostering Zoomie and eventually adopted him. He was taken to his new home on his 699th day at the shelter.

“He’s just a great dog. We were surprised he was overlooked for so many days. He’s a people person. He loves people,” Cathy Barido said.

Zoomie loves sunbathing, playing with toys and going on daily walks.
