First launched in 1996, Animal Planet is an American television channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery that focuses on series about animals, both wild and domestic. The way the channel has approached animal programming has changed over the years, but the overall aim of the channel has remained the same. Sports fan might know Animal Planet best for its annual Puppy Bowl special, which airs prior to the Super Bowl each year and features adoptable puppies competing in a football-themed competition. The Puppy Bowl features a halftime show that stars kittens playing with lights and laser pointers.
