New Animal Screening Facility Opens At Dublin Airport

Flying with a pet from Dublin Airport has just got a whole lot easier with the opening of a new pet screening facility, which means animals can once again travel in the hold of an aircraft.

Checking pets into the hold has not been possible at Dublin Airport in recent years due to an overhaul of the baggage handling system in the terminals. However, following a significant investment and the creation of a new screening room, animals can once again be screened safely, allowing for them to be carried in the hold of an aircraft departing Dublin Airport.

According to Graeme McQueen, Media Relations Manager at daa, the operator of Dublin Airport: “We’re delighted to re-introduce this service at Dublin Airport as we know it’s something that a lot of passengers really wanted. The facility is up and running and we’re looking forward to seeing lots of happy owners and even happier pets travelling through Dublin Airport once again.”

While the facility is located in Terminal 1, the facility is available to passengers travelling from both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

Passengers should contact their airline in advance of travel for advice on travelling with an animal. When you reach Dublin Airport, proceed to your designated check-in area, in either terminal, to complete the check in process. Airline staff will advise you on the process from there and direct you to the facility.
