BIJNOR: Five men were booked on Thursday for animal cruelty after they allegedly tortured and thrashed a dog to death using an iron rod. The incident took place on Wednesday after the dog bit a child in Kabulpura Gotiya under Badaun police station limits.
The matter was brought to the attention of animal lover, Vikendra Sharma, who rushed to the spot and filed a police complaint.
According to Badaun station house officer, Bijendra Singh, “All five accused, including Mohd Afroz Gaddi and four unidentified persons, have been booked and are currently at large. Efforts are on to arrest them. We interrogated the villagers after the incident. Prima facie, it came to light that the dog was rabies-positive. She had bitten a child some days ago as well and had been roaming around in the area. The probe is ongoing.”
