Brocton Mayor Craig Miller was authorized to execute the contract between the village and Chautauqua County regarding billing for emergency medical services.
BROCTON — Two of the recent hot topics at Brocton Village Board meetings have recently been acted upon.
Village Attorney Peter Clark shared at a recent meeting that he will be appointed by the District Attorney’s office to prosecute residents who have not abided by village’s laws regarding animal control.
“We’ll take a couple of these people to court, try to shake it up a little bit and get it straightened out,” Clark said.
The village board also authorized Mayor Craig Miller to execute the contract between the village and Chautauqua County regarding billing for emergency medical services. A meeting was held recently between Brocton Fire Department, village officials and county representatives for discussion on the matter.
“I think there are things that will have to be ironed out that will come up … but at least we’ll have something to work with,” Clark said.
Dave Hazelton of the Brocton Fire Company also revealed at the recent board meeting that the department’s ambulance service has shifted from an advanced life support to a basic life support provider. Of the two advanced life support providers the department used, “one moved and one is just too busy to answer our calls,” Hazelton said. “So we’ll be backed up by the county.”
The department’s ambulance recently passed inspection by the state Department of Health.
