Friends of the Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter is holding a bake sale at PetSmart this Saturday, Oct. 28, and is currently seeking bakers who could drop off cookies, brownies, cakes or other sweet treats at the Manahawkin store by 9 that morning. The bake sale will run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
All proceeds from the sale will benefit the area’s many homeless animals.
As noted on the Friends website, fosocas.org, “Our mission is to assist and reduce the population of homeless companion animals in southern Ocean County, and to promote shelter pet adoptions through publicity and public relations.
“We are a rescue organization that not only assists the Manahawkin shelter, but we also rescue homeless cats and kittens. We are active with TNR (trap-neuter-return) and maintaining feral cat communities.”
