CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control got its deployment orders from the NC Department of Agriculture on Wednesday. They’ll be heading to a church in Marion in McDowell County. A co-located shelter is set up there. That means people are there, with their pets. CMPD Animal Care and Control will help manage the pet side of the shelter.
They’re taking dog and cat food, and right now, they’re asking for monetary donations for a specific reason. “So, you don’t want to just gather a lot of supplies that you think they might need and send it, because you may be sending the very exact wrong things. So we are letting them tell us what they need,” says spokeswoman Melissa Knicely.
Char-Meck Animal Care and Control is also asking people here in our area to go to the shelter and foster the animals already there, so they can free up space for animals from western North Carolina.
