WYTHALL Animal Sanctuary has teamed up with two businesses to help with its fund-raising efforts.
The Standard reported in May this year the sanctuary could face closure if trustees were unable to raise the funds needed to keep the doors open.
Wythall Animal Sanctuary was founded by Dave and Kath Davies in the early 1960s.
The couple moved to the current site in 1963 and has been running as a registered charity for more than 50 years.
Due to the rising costs of vet bills, running costs and the high demand for animals needing help, the charity has run out of funds.
Danni Howard, who has worked at the sanctuary since she was 14 years old, said they were desperate to find a way to survive.
“We are desperately seeking some additional support to enable us to keep going and providing a place of safety for so many animals that need it,” she added.
“As well as being a rescue, we are also a sanctuary.
“For many animals with us at the moment that have been unable to find a home of their own, we are their home, and we want to do everything we can to protect them.”
This new partnership, with estate agent DM & Co Homes and M&G Movers and Storers – both Solihull-based – aims to raise the funds needed.
Georgia Smith and Amy Carstairs, staff members from DM & Co Homes, visited the sanctuary to see the work carried out there.
Georgia said: “It was really educational to see the love and care that goes into looking after and hopefully rehoming all the animals at Wythall Animal Sanctuary and it’s impossible not to be moved by the devotion of all the staff there.”
The charity has arranged a series of fund-raising events, to try and increase cash flow.
Site manager Ross Howard said: “We’re holding at least one event a week, ranging from open days to pet portraits. We really need the community to get behind us.”
