GALLOWAY, NJ — A Galloway woman was charged with 110 counts of animal cruelty after she was found to have 54 animals living in inhumane conditions in her home, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office said.
A total of 15 dogs, 12 rabbits, 15 birds, five guinea pigs, two ferrets and five cats were seized from the home of Diane Haytas, 56, located at 833 E. Moss Mill Road, officials said.
These animals were found to be living in inhumane and unsanitary conditions, officials said, without access to clean water or food. Several were kept in cages inside a detached garage, officials said.

Additionally, a number of dead birds were found lying on the home’s floor when police executed a search warrant on Haytas’ home on May 24. The search warrant was the culmination of a month-long investigation into animal cruelty and neglect at the house.
All seized animals were taken to a veterinarian for evaluation, officials said, and will be held pending the outcome of the case.
The Prosecutor’s Office reminded the public that any pets that can no longer be properly cared for, or are no longer wanted, can be surrendered to the Atlantic County Animal Shelter in Pleasantville or the Humane Society in Atlantic City.
